Integrating for impact to advance Meridian for Good

The Goal

As a long-standing partner from the start of Meridian’s ESG reporting journey, we were uniquely positioned to support its next evolution: integrating the annual and ESG reports into a single, enterprise-wide publication. The ambition was not only to provide a complete and transparent view of leadership, strategy and performance, but also to demonstrate how deeply ESG is embedded across Meridian’s governance, risk management, culture and community impact. This inaugural combined report reflects Meridian’s growing maturity – moving from stand-alone ESG disclosures to a fully integrated, evidence-based narrative aligned with its “Meridian for Good” strategy and member-obsessed brand.

How We Helped

To support a seamless transition to a combined report, we worked closely with Meridian’s cross-functional leaders to align structure, messaging and data with its embedded ESG strategy. We refined its approach to materiality, strengthened how it communicates KPIs and performance, and ensured critical areas like governance, sustainable finance, DEIBR (diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and reconciliation), climate change and community impact were authentically reflected in the report.

The result was a highly visual, emotionally engaging experience grounded in evidence and accountability. At the heart of this approach was a bespoke visual system we called “M-Stories.” Featured as full-page moments throughout the report, each paired striking photography of members and staff with authentic narratives – reinforcing how purpose informs enterprise-wide decision making and social impact.

Meridian is proudly member-obsessed, which is reflected in the M-Stories approach we coined and developed for the credit union’s member stories.

In addition to design and writing support, Works Design provided sustainability consulting services to help tell the company’s ESG story.
