Canadian Tire Corporation
2010 ANNUAL REPORT

Solid earnings, a stronger balance sheet and an increased dividend – 2010 was a great year for Canadian Tire Corporation. There was no secret to this success – just a sound strategy, great people, products and pricing, and the power of one of Canada's most iconic brands. All of these elements were highlighted in the company's 2010 Annual Report, designed by The Works. A clean, uncluttered layout paired with eye-catching call-outs made it easy for readers to find what they were looking for, while high-impact photos of people living, playing and fixing drove home the many ways that Canadian Tire connects with Canadians.

Loblaw Companies Limited
2010 Corporate Website

The Works' relationship with Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) began with the company's 2008 Annual Report. We still do the annual report, and have also gone on to produce the company's Corporate Social Responsibility report – now delivered exclusively online. In 2010, we were engaged to design Loblaw's corporate website. Working with technology partner Q4, we developed a site that would be interactive and accessible from any mobile platform. This allowed for features like an interactive timeline that covers Loblaw's history, and a news archive and FAQ section that support a range of custom search options.

Royal Nickel Corporation
2011 Corporate Website

As its initial public offering drew near, Royal Nickel Corporation (RNC) – owner of the world's fourth-largest nickel mine – needed its corporate website to hit the ground running. Coming to market with an exceptionally experienced senior management team – as well as an impressive project – positions RNC as an outstanding new name in Canadian resources. The Works, which also created RNC's new identity, developed a website to communicate these strengths and RNC's aggressive plan for expansion. Its tone is crisp and confident; the look is serious but not staid. In other words, it speaks volumes for RNC as an exceptional choice for investors.

Grand & Toy
2010 Online CSR Report and
Summary Poster

You can always find something useful at Grand & Toy, including information about the company's sustainability performance. Two communications vehicles created by The Works - an innovative microsite and a summary poster for customers - present Grand & Toy's Seven Pillars of Sustainability and link the company's goals to specific performance metrics. Both the website and poster show how Grand & Toy tracks its sustainability data in-line with the Global Reporting Initiative's performance indicators - a feature suggested by our research. The Works also suggested coding the website in JQuery, rather than Flash, to ensure that it was available across the widest possible range of platforms.
